Task 2: Exercises

Table of contents

In this week's lecture Mr. Fauzi gave us a youtube video tutorial on how to edit on photoshop for the shazam task. He also gave us a youtube link on how to do our own DIY photo studio. We were also introduced to blending modes and double explosure, which is when two images are merged into one.

INSTRUCTIONS:

PROJECT 1A (Shazam)
PROJECT 1B (My reflection)Based on SHAZAM exercise, create the same steps and insert your own photo to replace the SHAZAM’s layer by following these steps:

  1. Take a photo of yourself using the right lighting techniques

  2. Apply the Shazam’s exercise techniques

  3. Replace the Shazam’s layer with YOUR OWN PHOTO

  4. Apply suitable Color Correction to finalize your work

Practical: Digital Imaging Exercise

PROJECT 1A (Shazam)

I followed the instructions one by one from the video given. Below are the results of each layer after editing.

FINAL OUTCOME

PROJECT 1B (My reflection)

First, I took a picture of myself on eyelevel and insert it on photoshop, remove it's background and resize it.

After that I match the color of my picture to the background, added shadows by using a brush tool, decrease it's layer's opacity and added a gaussian blur filter to the shadow.

Then I duplicate myself and transform it to make it upside down. After that I used the pentool and mask to cut the unwanted part of legs. I then adjusted the colors of my reflection using hue/saturation and added a gaussian blur filter to it.

Reflections

Because of this task I became more familiar with photoshop, I became more used to using filters and I get a hang on how much blur is needed to make the shadows. I also began remember the shortcuts required.

On top of that I also realized how a good lightning really effect our pictures, as I tried to take the picture on various light settings to get the picture just right. Overall I really enjoyed learning and gaining new knowledge on photoshop.
